I FAILED my first semester

Yeah… I failed my very first semester of nursing school, and there are a couple of things I wish I knew as a new nursing student!

Synopsis for those want to get straight to it

What I wish I knew

1. Avoid relying on cramming as a study method. Focus comprehension over mere memorization. While memorizing facts is crucial, aim to grasp the underlying concepts and principles, focusing on their practical applications. This approach not only enhances your knowledge but also provides a solid foundation for problem-solving and critical thinking.

2. Actively interact with the study material. Don't passively read notes; engage by taking active notes during lectures, rewriting content in your own words, and summarizing key points. This approach is particularly effective in understanding disorders, pharmacological drugs, and their interconnectedness. The use of Nursing School Notebooks is a preferred method, facilitating a comprehensive understanding.

3. Limit your resources to two or maybe three for optimal results. Choosing and concentrating on a limited number of resources is beneficial for preventing information overload. When you limit your sources to two or three, you can delve deeper into the material, extract the most pertinent information, and avoid the overwhelming feeling that can arise from attempting to assimilate too much information from numerous sources. This focused approach enhances your understanding and retention of key concepts while promoting a more effective and manageable study experience.

4. Prioritize application (allocate >50% of your study time). Our primary application resource is undoubtedly our PQ Bible, and you'll soon receive a sample! A focused application strategy ensures that you not only grasp theoretical concepts but also develop the skills necessary for real-world scenarios.

If you're not sure how to include this in your study plan/ routine, don't worry, just make sure you catch the next video!
